# Rate limits & quota

Each account has a per-minute limit and a monthly quota (see [Pricing](/pricing)). Usage is shared across all keys of the account.

- 5xx responses are refunded; 4xx are counted.
- The monthly quota resets on the 1st at 00:00 UTC.
- On `429`, wait `Retry-After` seconds. `content.window` tells you whether it was the minute or month limit.
- Retry only `429`, `502`, `503`, `504` and network errors, with exponential backoff.
